8년간의 침묵 끝에 보스턴이 앨범 [Third Stage]를 들고 돌아왔을 때, 첫 번째 발표된 앨범의 머릿곡 [Amanda]는 훌륭한 러브 발라드이기도 하지만, 브래드의 멋진 보컬이 있었기에 그 낭만이 더 빛을 발했던 곡이었다. 예전보다 덜 테크니컬한 듯하면서도 하나의 컨셉으로 구성된 이런 앨범은 80년대엔 드문 방향성이었고, 구세대, 신세대 대중 모두가 이 앨범에 찬사를 보냈다. 하지만, 94년 4집 [Walk On]이 발표되기 전까지 또 톰은 자신만의 세계로 칩거했고, 브래드도 이번에는 그 기간을 쉽게 견디지 못했다.
