Utada (Utada Hikaru) - Come Back To Me (영어앨범 2집 첫 싱글)

우리는 (아무래도 팔이 안으로 굽으니까) 지금 보아(BoA)의 첫 영어 앨범 발매에 주목을 하겠지만, 사실 일본인들은 5월 12일 발매되는 우타다 히카루(Utada Hikaru - 미국 활동에선 그냥 Utada로 이름을 쓴다)의 영어앨범 2집인 [This Is The One]에 시선이 더 모아져 있을 것 같다. 이 앨범이 원래 보아보다 1주일 늦은 24일 발매 예정이었으나, 무슨 이유인지는 몰라도 1달 이상 늦게 발매일정을 늦췄다. 좀 더 완성도를 다듬기 위함일까? 그래도 아마존 사이트에 올라온 그녀의 신곡 <Come Back to Me>의 뮤직비디오와 노래는 생각보디 괜찮다. 어찌보면 보아의 앨범 컨셉이 다분히 '브리트니 스피어스'를 의식했다면, 그녀는 1집에서의 실험성을 과감히 버리고, 이 곡의 느낌처럼 리아나(Rihanna)나 니요(Ne-Yo)쪽으로 방향을 잡은 게 아닌가 생각된다. (뭐, 아직 나머지 노래들을 못들어봤으니 틀릴 수도 있다.) 근데 실제 미국 팝 팬들에겐 그녀의 앨범이 보아의 것보다 더 가깝게 다가가게 될 것 같다는 예감은 왜 드는 것일까? 발라드에 포커스를 맞춰서 그녀의 보컬이 더욱 돋보여서 그런가?
