1983년 연말에 발표된 세년(Shannon)의 데뷔 싱글 <Let The Music Play>는 당시 미국 주류 펑키-댄스 뮤직이 그대로 밴드 사운드의 포맷을 유지했던 것을 완전히 무시하고 100% 일렉트로닉 사운드로만 무장해 만들어낸 일렉트로 훵크(Electro Funk), 혹은 라틴 프리스타일(Latin Freestyle) 사운드가 주류에서 히트한 (거의) 첫 번째 히트곡으로 빌보드 역사에 기록된다. 댄스 뮤직이라고 폄하(?)될 지는 몰라도 영국식 신스 팝에 대적하는 80년대 가장 미국적이었던 일렉트로닉 사운드라 하면 맞을 것이다. 비록 이 곡을 발표했던 세년은 이 곡 이후에는 Top 40히트곡이 전혀 없는 '원 히트 원더' 대접을 받고 있지만, 그럼에도 지금도 가끔 그녀의 이 곡이 거론되는 이유는 이 곡이 가진 매력, 바로 전자음만으로 이루어졌음에도 세월을 건너 적용될 수 있는 탁월한 그루브가 담겨있기 때문일 것이다. 그렇기에 근래에 아메리칸 아이돌의 스타 조딘 스팍스(Jordin Sparks)가 이 곡을 바탕으로 <S.O,S (Let The Music Play)>를 발표한 것이 아닐까 싶기도 하다.
