Alcatrazz - Jet To Jet

그래험 보넷(Graham Bonnet)과 그룹 뉴 잉글랜드(New England)출신의 멤버들이 주축으로 결성된 알카트라즈(Alcatrazz)는 파릇파릇했던 당시의 잉베이 맘스틴(Yngwie Malmsteen)과 함께 데뷔작 [No Parole From Rock 'N' Roll]을 통해 아시아와 유럽 지역에서 주목을 받았지만, 잉베이의 탈퇴 후 스티브 바이(Steve Vai) 등 후임 기타리스트들과 함께 88년까지 활동하다가 해산했었다. 그런데, 올해들어 2팀의 알카트라즈가 등장하고 말았으니... 한 팀은 보컬 그래험 보넷이 주도한 그를 제외한 새 라인업으로 이미 조 린 터너(Joe Lynn Turner)와 함께 일본 투어도 마친 상태에 올해 말 새 앨범을 발표할 것을 공지해놓은 상태다. 반면, 지미 왈도(Jimmy Waldo) 등 나머지 원년 멤버 3명은 그들대로 기타리스트를 영입, '우리가 진정한 원조 알카트라즈'라는 광고를 하면서, 새 보컬리스트를 조만간 공개하겠다고 으름장을 놓고 있으니... 마치 필립 루이스와 트레이시 건즈로 갈라진 2팀의 L.A. 건즈를 보고 있는 기분이다.  일단, 그래험 측 밴드의 올해 초 일본 라이브 실황 중에서 오랜만에 [Jet To Jet]을 들어본다. 80년대가 낳은 정말 멋진 메탈 밴드였지만, 현재의 이런 모습을 보면 좀 씁쓸하다.
