Rascal Flatts - Here Comes Goodbye

  3인조 컨트리 팝/록 밴드 래스컬 플래츠(Rascal Flatts)는 아직도 국내 팬들의 인지도는 매우 낮으나, 개인적으로는 매력을 느끼고 있는 그룹이다. 게리 복스(Gary LeVox), 제이 데마르커스(Jay Demarcus), 조 돈 루니(Joe Don Rooney)로 구성된 이들은 이미 활동 경력은 10년을 채운 그룹이지만, 우리가 그들의 이름을 알게 된 건 <What Hurts The Most>가 팝 차트 3위를 기록했던 [Me And My Gang]의 히트 이후였다. 그리고 애니메이션 <Cars>를 보았다면 사운드트랙으로 쓰인 <Life Is A Highway>를 통해 이들의 음악을 처음 들었을 수도 있겠다. 분명한 컨트리 록 사운드이지만, 그리 느끼하게 들리지 않는 게리의 보컬은 들을 수록 감칠맛이 있고, 3인조임에도 항상 세련되게 뽑는 연주 역시 맘에 든다. 이번에 발표한 신보 [Unstoppable]은 비록 올뮤직가이드에서는 혹평을 받았지만, 적어도 이 싱글은 과거의 분위기를 충실히 지켜서 듣기에 좋다. 점점 이런 컨트리 발라드도 좀 친숙해져야 하지 않을까? 테일러 스위프트(Taylor Swift)를 국내에 홍보하는데, '컨트리'라는 단어를 홍보문건에 한 자도 안 쓰는(아니면 못쓰는?) 직배사의 현실을 과연 어찌 생각해야 할까?
