Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Promenade / The Sage (from 'Pictures At Exhibition')

60년대 후반부터 수많은 (프로그레시브 계열, 하드 록 계열) 밴드들이 클래식과 록 음악과의 콤비네이션을 시도하려고 노력했고, 특히 프로그레시브 밴드들 중에서는 그 역할을 훌륭히 수행해 낸 밴드들도 있었는데, 그 중 한 작품이 바로 에머슨, 레이크 앤 팔머(Emerson, Lake & Palmer)가 1970년 시행했던 이 공연 실황이었다. 나중에 72년에 녹음되어 정식 앨범으로 발표된 버전에 비해서는 약간 실수에 해당하는 부분도 보이지만, 무소로그스키(Musorogsky)의 [전람회의 그림]과 자신들의 곡들을 기가막히게 잘 접속하여 한 편의 프로그레시브 교향곡으로 뽑아낸 이들의 솜씨는 가히 예술이라고 할 수 밖에... 그 가운데 개인적으로 좋아하는 그렉 레이크의 발라드 [Promenade / The Sage]의 메들리를 전체 영상에서 발췌하여 올려본다. 고요한 새벽에 들으면 참 좋을 곡이다.
