  디페쉬 모드(Depeche Mode)는 정말 대단한 밴드다. 그들의 역사가 신스 팝의 역사였고, 신스 팝이란 트렌드가 주류에서 밀려난지 10년이 훌쩍 넘었는데도, 그들은 후배 일렉트로니카 뮤지션들과 항상 그 자리에 있다. 그리고 이제 그 25년 역사를 정리하는 새로운 베스트 앨범과 함께 우리 곁에 돌아왔다. 기존의 [Singles 81-85], [Singles 86-96] 양대 싱글 컬렉션의 뒤를 이어 발매되는 이번 [Best of... ] CD는 시기를 두고 Volume 1, 2의 구성으로 발매될 예정인데, 일단 11월 중순에 1집이 먼저 소개된다. 일단 기존의 대중적 히트곡들이 주로 선곡된 이 앨범의 트랙리스트는 다음과 같다.

그래서, 특별히 이 앨범에 실린 신곡 [Martyr]의 뮤직비디오와 가사를 준비했다. 무거운 분위기를 좀 벗고 마치 자신들의 80년대 후반 분위기를 살린듯한 리드미컬한 일렉트로니카 댄스 넘버인데, 그동안 그들의 뮤직비디오의 장면들을 완전히 Remix해버렸으니, 이 장면이 어느 곡의 뮤직비디오에 나왔던 것인지 궁금해하며 보는 것도 재미있을 것이라고 생각한다.
