드디어, 휘트니 휴스턴의 컴백이 수면 위에 제대로 떠올랐다. 일단 신곡 <I Look To You>가 국내에서도 인터넷 싱글로 공개되었고, 9월 1일날 정식으로 앨범이 나올 것이다. 일단 알 켈리(R.Kelly)가 작업한 이 노래의 느낌은 분명히 과거의 휘트니와 사뭇 다르다. 자신의 스타일이라기 보다는, 마치 그녀의 오랜 존경의 대상일 아레사 프랭클린(Aretha Franklin)이나 패티 라벨(Patti Labelle)의 4-50대 보컬을 연상케 하기 때문이다. 사실 약물 중독으로 목이 망가질 정도의 상태로 갔었기에, 이 정도로 살아 돌아온 것만으로도 감사를 해야 하겠지만, 팬들의 기호에 따라서는 약간 호불호가 갈릴 듯도 하다. 하지만, 한 가지 분명한 사실은 그녀가 세월의 연륜을 확실히 담은 보이스로 돌아왔다는 것이다. 그녀의 목소리만 들어도 그간의 굴곡어린 삶이 충분히 느껴지기에, 이 노래는 그 품질을 떠나 정말 진정성이 담긴 노래로 내게 다가온다.
