Sade - Soldier of Love

샤데이가 돌아왔다. [Lovers Rock] 앨범이 발매되었던게 2000년이니, 딱 10년만이다. 그런데, 이 여자와 그녀의 밴드는 참 오래도 쉰다. 4집과 5집 사이의 간격이 6년인데, 그 후 또 10년이라니... 그러나, 그만큼 음악적으로 자신이 만족할만한 곡들이 나와야만 음반 작업을 한다는 얘기이기도 하다. (그런데, 그 긴 시간동안 손가락 안 빨고 구질구질하게 살지 않아도 되는 그녀의 환경이 아마 국내 뮤지션들에겐 부러울 것이다.) 하여간, 아직 새 앨범 전체 음원을 듣지는 못했으나 첫 싱글이자 타이틀 트랙 [Soldier of Love]의 분위기는 사뭇 묘하다. 그녀 음악에서 쉽게 듣지 못했던 마칭 드럼 소리가 주는 긴장감 위에 여전히 변함없이 부드럽게 내리꽃히는 초콜릿 보이스는 여전히 귀를 자극한다. 사실 싱글도 싱글이지만 전체 앨범이 더 기대가 된다.
